The Nats racing presidents recycled an Earth Day tribute on Tuesday night at Nationals Park, pausing during the fourth inning race to pick up trash from the warning track and deposit it in recycle bins before continuing the race.
The presidents have celebrated Earth Day at home before, but this was the first time they all got into the act. In previous years, Teddy has paused to pass out beads and hats, planted a tree in foul territory, and picked up Abe Lincoln’s litter. Yet despite this year’s even playing field, Abe Lincoln prevailed to take over first place in the standings for the first time since 2012.
