Nationals Racing presidents folding table clothesline 2Nationals Racing presidents folding table clotheslineBryce Harper and Danny Espinosa apparently provided inspiration for Thomas Jefferson and William Howard Taft Friday night as the Nationals resumed their homestand at Nationals Park.

With two homers each, Harper and Espinosa teamed up to bring the hammer down on the Atlanta Braves. Jefferson and Taft don’t swing the bat, but did one better by bringing a folding table onto the field.

With the presidents running toward the left field side for the second night in a row, Tom and Bill teamed up to slam the table into Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.

Taft took the win to move within one win of Abe in the standings.

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans?
