With a sellout crowd on hand for Jayson Werth Garden Gnome night Tuesday at Nationals Park, Teddy Roosevelt enlisted the mischievous magical gnome himself to help take his fourth consecutive presidents race.
Wearing a pointed hat and holding a bat and ball, Jayson Werth’s doppleganger stood still as a statue as Teddy took photos of him on the first base line, but when Roosevelt’s rival presidents approached, the gnome abruptly swung his bat, knocking out all four competitors before returning to his statuesque pose.
As Teddy crossed the finish line, members of the secret service carried the frozen “gnome” off the field.
Full and slo-mo GIFs below in what may be the best video of the year. The whole finish line video, which is also below, is really worth watching.
