After dominating the presidents race since Nationals Park opened, Abe Lincoln was 0-for-24 to start the 2013 season; but on Saturday night, “Honest” Abe returned to his cheating ways, and with an unlikely accomplice, took his first victory of the season.
Lincoln jumped the gun at the start accompanied by William Howard Taft, who joined Abe in the right field corner as the two set up a barricade to block the rest of the presidents.
That left Abe in a sprint to the finish against the portly Taft, a footrace he handled comfortably to nab victory number one. Abe and Teddy are now tied for last place in the presidents race standings.
