In one of his more inspired races, #26 overcame a bad start, working his way to the front of the pack with a burst of speed around the right field corner.

Teddy had the upper hand in one of the tightest presidential finishing packs ever, but he seemed to pull up at the end, taking a crooked angle towards the finish line as George barely edged Abe in a photo finish.

After seeminly handing the race to Washington, Teddy tweeted “This is your dayyyy….George!” Hardly the rallying cry Teddy’s fans are looking for.

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans? I hope that our chants of "Let Teddy Win!" during the Presidents Race will continue to add fun and excitement to Nationals Park, and help turn more and more young people into Washington Nationals fans.   1. Its clear in the video that George had the lead from the corner. I don’t see how you think Teddy gave up.
