Presidents fail to scare up a Nats victory on Friday the 13th

Washington-Nationals-Friday-the-13thThe Washington Nationals racing presidents tried to help the Nats scare up a victory Friday night at Nationals Park, but the team was ultimately spooked by a missed tag at the plate in the 11th inning.

As they did last August, the presidents paid homage to Jason Voorhees of the “Friday the 13th” movies, running the length of the presidents race in oversized hockey masks.

Abe passed George in the stretch to take the tape.

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans?
