Abe Lincoln forces 3-way tie to end homestand

A day after cheating his way to the finish line, Abraham Lincoln followed a more traditional path to victory, coming from behind to take the tape today as the Nats wrapped up their homestand vs. the Baltimore Orioles at Nationals Park. Orioles mascot The Bird once again failed to make an appearance.

With the Nats hitting the road tomorrow, Abe’s victory ensured that George, Thomas, and Abe would enter the month of June on an extended 3-way tie for first place — something we’ve never seen this late in the season.

Teddy Roosevelt, sadly, remains the only president without a win.

Presidents Race Fan

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans?
