The Un-Racing Sausages are back.
The Nats kicked off a long homestand Friday with a the first of a 3-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, and once again, the team long-known for its famous sausage race refused to bring its racing mascots to town to accept a challenge from our own racing presidents.
So, as they did last August, the Nationals shined a spotlight on Milwaukee’s negative response by bringing out the “un-racing sausages” — fake mascots with names like “Un-talian sausage,” “No-Lish Sausage,” “Not-Dog,” “Not-Wurst,” and “Choriz-No.”
The presidents race was competitive to the finish, when Abe Lincoln pulled away then used his body as a bowling ball to knock down the sausages, who were waiting behind the finish line.
