Brewers and their sausages get pummelled at Nationals Park

The sun was shining on Nationals Park today as 18,673 fans watched the home team pummel the Milwaukee Brewers with near-flawless pitching, outstanding defense, heads-up baserunning, timely hitting, and yes, a little presidential butt-kicking too.

The Nationals continued to mock the Brewers’ famous racing sausages with a relay race between the racing presidents and the “un-racing sausages” — cardboard facsimilies created by the Nats mascot team when the Brewers refused to bring the real racing dogs to DC.

Tom teamed with George and Teddy teamed with Abe as the presidents took on each other — and the sausages.

In the outfield leg, George and Teddy tackled “Un-Talian Sausage” and “Not-Wurst” before handing off to anchors Abe and Tom, who promptly dispatched “Not-Dog” and “No-Lish Sausage”; leaving a 5th sausage, “Choriz-No,” to run for his life. Abe chased down the final sausage and tackled him to the ground, giving Tom a clear path to victory and a tie for first place in the season standings.
