The Nationals are on a roll after their west coast road trip, and didn’t skip a beat Thursday night as they returned to Nationals Park to beat the Orioles 6-1.
Thomas Jefferson is also on a roll, picking up where he left off last homestand with an unconventional win in the fourth inning presidents race.
As has happened frequently this season, Teddy Roosevelt held the lead heading into the home stretch, but that’s when Nationals PA announcer Jerome Hruska yelled “Hey Teddy! The track is lava!” The Bull Moose stopped and spun around before taking a dive into the stands.
Roosevelt’s three competitors also jumped off the track onto the infield grass, but Thomas Jefferson regained his footing and raced ahead of Lincoln to steal the win.
