A Nationals homestand characterized by presidential dirty tricks continued at Nationals Park as the team played its only Sunday night game of the season, beating the Mets in come-from-behind fashion on national television.
Sunday’s fourth inning presidents race started out cleanly enough, with fan favorite Teddy Roosevelt hanging onto a close lead as the presidents raced into the home stretch.
But the grounds crew was waiting in ambush along the first base line. They swarmed the field and took down front-running Teddy before pummeling each of the other racing presidents.
The Rough Rider pulled himself to his feet and looked up to see finish line just ahead. He stumbled forward, taking a final and dramatic leap over the tape to secure only his eighth victory of the 2013 campaign.
Look at the board, it had Teddy with eight wins so maybe this was pre-determined?
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post (http://wp.me/p7QCn-270), the Nats have once again gotten it wrong on the scoreboard, allocating an extra ‘W’ to Abe, Tom, and Teddy.
Check out the standings (http://wp.me/P7QCn-F) and count the wins yourself.
They’ve done this many times before. Not sure why. Sometimes after pointing it out they’ll fix things while the team’s out of town, but they aren’t very diligent.
