Washington Nationals racing presidents at the white houseOne benefit of being a former president for the summer: Security clearance.

For the second year in a row, the Nationals racing presidents joined president Barack Obama and his family for an Independence Day barbecue honoring military heroes and their families at the White House, joining other celebrities including country singer Brad Paisley (pictured).

Presidents Race Fan

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans? I hope that our chants of "Let Teddy Win!" during the Presidents Race will continue to add fun and excitement to Nationals Park, and help turn more and more young people into Washington Nationals fans.
