After yesterday’s embarrassing taunting by Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt was motivated to exact a little revenge on Labor Day at Nationals Park.
Unfortunately for Teddy, he was a little too aggressive.
With the racing presidents decked out in their holiday patriotic uniforms, Teddy jumped out to a quick start, and in an unusually fast-paced race, actually extended his lead as the presidents raced along the warning track.
But with the race barely more than halfway over, the Rough Rider decided to start rubbing it in.
With Teddy’s back turned toward the other presidents, his lead evaporated quickly, and the Rough Rider soon
found himself spun around and huffing
to catch up to the pack.
