“You are about to witness history in the making,” intoned the Nassau Coliseum announcer as the Washington Nationals racing presidents made their second annual Presidents Day weekend appearance at a New York Islanders home game.
YouTube member Dcfd3694 caught this terrific video of the presidents racing on ice skates between periods of Sunday’s game. Highlights include this take down of Abe by Thomas Jefferson, and a vicious body slam by Teddy Roosevelt that sent George Washington into the boards. Teddy unfortunately slipped later, allowing George to pass him for the victory.
We’d been promised by the Nats that Teddy was practicing his pirhouettes and quadruple jumps last weekend, but apparently it all fell apart under the pressure of the moment.
