Barely two hours after Rachel Alexandra wore #13 to become the first filly to win the Preakness Stakes in 85 years, the Washington Nationals presidents race was visited by a surprise fifth participant. Yes, it was another #13 “Philly”, this time a last-minute entrant. The racer appeared in the outfield and wore a Phillies shirt with #13 on the back. The “Philly” carried the lead into the home stretch, but was narrowly beaten by Abe at the tape.
