Teddy waits in line for $1 hot dog, misses presidents race

A crowd of 21,960 were rewarded with a great ball game after Monday evening’s thunderstorm as the Nationals’ held their Dollar Monday promotion, in which outfield tickets were available for a dollar, plus $1.00 parking and $1.00 hot dogs, peanuts, and popcorn available in the park.

The cheap treats were such an attraction that Teddy Roosevelt managed to miss the 4th inning presidents race. When George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln ran out from the centerfield gate, Teddy was spotted standing in line at the Nats Dogs stand.

Jefferson pulled away for the win, plowing into the GEICO Gecko at the finish line.

Presidents Race Fan

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans? I hope that our chants of "Let Teddy Win!" during the Presidents Race will continue to add fun and excitement to Nationals Park, and help turn more and more young people into Washington Nationals fans.
