DC Metro commuters got a surprise welcome as Teddy Roosevelt and his racing president cohorts greeted passengers with Nationals ticket coupons at the Metro Center exits Monday.
The racing presidents were promoting the homestand that starts with a Free T-Shirt Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park and continues with a Mothers Day weekend series against the Florida Marlins. You couldn’t ask for a better weather forecast, and despite losses Saturday and Sunday, the team arrives in town with a winning record and just 1.5 games out of first place in the NL East.
For the upcoming series, the Nationals have again released a half-price coupon code “for Teddy’s friends”: Order at Nationals.com using Coupon Code “TEDDY” (all caps) and get half-price tickets in select seating sections for the 3-game series vs. the Braves starting tonight at Nationals Park. The coupon is valid for online orders only, and gets you half price in the outfield corners ($18), the outfield mezzanine ($15), or the upper infield gallery ($9).

Let Teddy Win T-Shirts

Sadly, Teddy fans learned they had nothing to cheer for when it was announced that he would not be racing because he was “still nursing a hamstring injury.” The news was a surprise, given that the presidents had not raced since the Nats’ last home game on September 10.
The coupon code is valid only for online orders and may be used to get outfield box seats, outfield corner, or mezzanine seats for $15.00 to $18.00 each.
The Screech theme continues with a new promotion on Sunday, September 27. The first 5,000 kids age 12 and under entering Nationals Park will receive a Build-a-Bear Workshop Screech doll — possibly the highest-value promotional item we’ve seen given away at the ball park.
There looked to be plenty of reasons to celebrate at Nationals Park today. The clear skies and rare weekday afternoon start drew folks from their offices to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the Nats and Astros. It was also T-Shirt Tuesday, and the first 10,000 fans received free t-shirts featuring racing president Teddy Roosevelt wearing a sombrero. Ryan Zimmerman extended his record hitting streak to 23 games, and the hot-hitting Nationals turned 14 hits 8 walks into 10 runs. Unfortunately, the Nats pitching staff gave up the lead three times, and after 11 innings of 10-10 baseball, the rains came and the game was postponed.

Regular readers don’t need to be reminded that this is Abe Lincoln’s T-shirt Tuesday. The first 10,000 fans to enter Nationals Park on Tuesday will receive a free Washington Nationals Abraham Lincoln T-Shirt. Given his recent record, it’s doubtful that Abe needs any help to win the presidents race, but it should be noted that
The Washington Nationals have finalized which Tuesday home games will feature free t-shirts with images of the racing presidents.
Yesterday’s home game against the Philadelphia Phillies marked the continuation of the Washington Nationals’ T-Shirt Tuesdays, which will run all season at Nationals Park.
