Teddy as Astronaut, By Cheryl Nichols, Nats News NetworkWhat do you do after a spectacular 14-day, 5.7 million-mile journey to the International Space Station as pilot of the the Space Shuttle Endeavor? Head to Nationals Park, of course.

Space Shuttle Commander George Zamka, Pilot Terry Virts and Mission Specialists Kathryn Hire, Stephen Robinson, Nicholas Patrick and Robert Behnken were on hand Tuesday night as Virts threw out the first pitch at the Nationals/Rockies game.

Jefferson wins the Nats presidents race by Cheryl Rush Nichols, Nats News NetworkThe Shuttle crew has been to DC be honored by our 44th president, but they may not have been expecting a tribute tonight from #26 Theodore Roosevelt.

Teddy took the lead in tonight’s presidents race carrying a “Curly W” flag and wearing a makeshift astronaut helmet to honor the evening’s special guests. The helmet, unfortunately, may have obscured Teddy’s view of the finish line, as he faltered rounding the outfield corner, before planting the flag in foul territory.

In a race for the tape, Tom edged Abe to steal the season lead, dropping Abe from first place for the first time since May, 2009.
