On Easter Sunday at Nationals Park, the racing presidents wore their Sunday finest and ran a tight, clean fourth inning race with Teddy in the lead down the home stretch.
But the Easter Bunny was waiting in foul territory and took a leap towards Roosevelt, taking out the Rushmore Four in one fell swoop.
With George, Tom, Abe, and Teddy on the ground, the plodding William Howard Taft was able to race by for his second win of the season.
It was the first regular season appearance for the Easter Bunny, who last appeared in an exhibition game in 2012.

Running the wrong way seemed to help the team on Friday night, so on Saturday afternoon at Nationals Park, the racing presidents took off toward the third base side again, but as was the case in the game vs. the Cardinals, things got ugly quickly.
Teddy Roosevelt had an early lead, but as the presidents passed the visitors’ bullpen, George Washington slammed Teddy into the fence, to the surprise and horror of the Cardinals’ relievers.
Roosevelt fell to the ground, and oncoming presidents Abe Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson tripped over him. With his competition dispatched, George Washington managed to avoid disqualification and cruised to an easy victory.

The Nationals racing presidents kicked off the final homestand of the season as the presidents race was meant to be, with the Rushmore four — George, Tom, Abe, and Teddy — racing closely along the warning track.
But it being Friday the 13th, this season’s interloper William Howard Taft emerged from the bullpen midway through the race wearing a hockey mask, and mucked up the proceedings, attacking the competition and leaving them lying in the outfield.
But “Jason” took his time grandstanding for the crowd as he proceeded towards the finish line, and George Washington caught him from behind.
As the crowd cheered, the father of our country triumphantly waved an American flag as he crossed the tape.
With nine home games to go, Washington’s magic number is three.
