Video: Thomas Jefferson gets his first presidents race victory of the year on college rivalry night

Thomas Jefferson Wins Presidents RaceThomas Jefferson Wins Presidents RaceAs many had predicted, Thomas Jefferson finally nabbed his first presidents race victory of 2015 on Wednesday night, as thousands of University of Virginia students and alumni filled the stands at Nationals Park for for College Rivalry Night.

With UVA’s Cavalier mascot and Virginia Tech’s HokieBird holding the finish line tape, the sage of Monticello came from behind to take a huge lead into the home stretch, but then turned and tripped just before the finish line.

It looked for a moment like Jefferson would lose his shot at victory, but he sprung to his feet and fell over the finish line in a pile of founding fathers.

Video: Jefferson loses again. Will Wednesday’s UVA night bring victory #1?

Thomas Jefferson lost Tuesday night’s rain-delayed presidents race at Nationals Park, marking his 34th loss of the season against zero victories heading into Wednesday’s College Rivalry Night.
Thomas Jefferson loses presidents race
Jefferson has been the presidential whipping boy this season, losing in a variety of unflattering ways and causing some to question whether the Nats are trying to make Tom the new Teddy.

But among those who’ve followed Tom’s misfortune this season, many have circled Wednesday night’s game against the Braves. Nationals Park will host “College Rivalry Night” featuring sections devoted to Virginia Tech and University of Virginia students and alumni. The UVA money has Tom taking victory number one.

Oh yes. George outraced Tom on Tuesday as the presidents wore their Hawaiian shirts and raced to the theme from Hawaii Five-O:

Jefferson drinks a Red Bull mid-race, sprints ahead to victory

Thomas Jefferson did his best Abe Lincoln impression tonight at Nationals Park, sprinting out ahead of the other presidents for an early lead. Lacking Abe’s stamina, Tom paused to catch his breath, but fortunately he had can of Red Bull handy, drank it down, and then sprinted past his opponents again to run away with a Nationals presidents race victory.

“Honest” Abe hasn’t been himself since getting helped off the field Tuesday night.

TJ’s victory forced a rare 3-way tie atop the presidents race standings, marking the first time in more than 2 years that Teddy Roosevelt can lay claim to 2nd place …sort of.

Teddy disqualified for cheating in walk-race

Last night at Nationals Park, the racing presidents honored the Olympics by running that most difficult of track events — the walk race. After it was announced that walk race rules were in effect, the racing presidents took off — slowly — in a painful demonstration of speed-walking while wearing a 10-foot costume.

Perhaps Teddy Roosevelt was sympathetic to the umpires’ desire to start the 5th inning, but before the pack had even reached the right field corner, he decided to take things into his own hands.

The Nationals Park crowd roared with approval as Teddy cut the outfield corner and broke into a sprint for the finish line. Of course, that buzzkill Screech was there to issue an immediate disqualification, and Thomas Jefferson was granted the victory.

Where is Screech to throw the flag when Abe cheats?
