Phil Wood Joins MASN Pre- and Post-Game Team

DCRTV reports that Phil Wood has been hired by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network to replace Don Baylor as Ray Knight’s back-up on the Nationals pre and postgame shows.

Congratulations, Phil, and may I say this is great news for Nationals fans. Not only does Phil know the game as well as anybody in town, he is actually from the area and is a Nationals fan. Imagine that!

Phil, just promise me you’ll root for Teddy!

Presidents Race Fan

I am a huge Washington Nationals fan (and partial season ticket holder) whose son fell in love with the Presidents Race from that first day in July, 2006 when big-headed Teddy first came up short. It's wonderful to think that such a fan-friendly tradition could become established in DC so quickly. Who says DC doesn't have great fans? I hope that our chants of "Let Teddy Win!" during the Presidents Race will continue to add fun and excitement to Nationals Park, and help turn more and more young people into Washington Nationals fans.   1. One more thing about Phil Wood. Although he is a Nationals fan, he will treat Orioles fans as well as any Nats fan. He doesn’t have any ax to grind. He could easily go to the other studio and also cover the black and orange, too.

    P.S. I’m a Nats fan.

  2. I remember Phil (I’m assuming it’s the same guy) when he used to work for WTEM and did a baseball show every night from 7-10 PM.

    I didn’t even know he was working for the Nats now, although it certainly makes sense.
